Our dogs - Turner

Turner is our four year old, male Rottweiller. We have had him now since just before his third birthday. When he came to us he was a very dominant dog who knew how to use his weight. He had had very little socialisation with animals.
Turner is now a much better balanced dog who has become a big part of our family - at seven stone, a very big part of our family!
He has now been socialised with our cats and rabbits at home and with our horses.
Turner can be a helpful member of dog school as very large students can play with him without fear of either dog taking too heavy a knock and additionally, seeing Turner play with others without incident can help owners of all dogs, large and small to get over their own fears, enabling them to effectively train their dogs. We do have to be quite selective in our use of Turner as a member of School as he does have residual issues, he's a work in progress. He does attend school from time to time to help him improve his issues and if he needs time out, we put him somewhere quiet for a little while to let him calm down. Turner can be quite overprotective at times and if large dogs become too assertive around him he likes to make his voice heard. This is the type of issue which takes time and patience to resolve, little by little we are helping him to relax and enjoy life.
