At Dog School we insist on taking a "Whole Dog Approach". This means that we like to start from the beginning with each case to ensure that each dog and owner are helped to communicate more effectively with one another, and to develop new skills to provide for their future relationship, once they move on from Dog School. This principle is the foundation of our business and it is not something we are prepared to compromise.
We feel strongly that if we were to target a specific problem whilst ignoring everything else, this would not be an effective training method. The result of attempting to stick a "band aid" over the problem is that the problem either returns, or is promptly replaced with an alternative issue. This is because the source of the issue has not been dealt with. We much prefer to teach people how they can fully meet their dogs needs, which will result in a happy and well behaved pet.
"Dog Diplomacy" is a principle we have developed from our experience of how dogs and people interact with one another, and the effect of that on their relationship. This principle encompasses many different factors including communication, negotiation, and understanding. We have found that dogs who attend training classes on a week to week basis, only benefit from those classes if their owner/handler is properly educated and is able to practice "Dog Diplomacy" in the home and out and about between classes.
